Rehabilitation Recharge in San Juan

Sunny skies and tropical temperatures are serving as the backdrop for a Mayo Clinic Rehabilitation Medicine Update in San Juan, Puerto Rico this weekend.

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation professionals are gathered to learn about the latest developments.

Randy Shelerud, M.D., opened the course on Friday morning with “Cutting” Edge Treatment of Low Back Pain.

He was followed by a focus on Osteoporosis: Update in Pharmacological and Non-Pharmacological Treatment with Mehrsheed Sinaki, M.D.

The mid-morning sessions included updates on Old Hand Conditions and New Treatment Approaches with Jeffrey Brault, D.O.

Attendees also participated in a panel discussion after hearing from Mark Hurdle, M.D., who talked about Medications for Chronic Non-cancer Pain: Update on Scientific Evidence and Practical Aspects of Prescribing.

The afternoon sessions featured more question and answer opportunities following presentations from Jay Smith, M.D.

He spoke about New Approaches for treatment of Musculoskeletal Conditions: FAST, PRP, Stem-Cell and Beyond.

 

 

 

Conferees also learned about Regenerative Medicine. Isobel Scarisbrick, Ph.D., discussed Regenerativemayo_pmrblog_sanjuan_scarisbrick2

Approaches for Spinal Cord Condition.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Christopher Evans, Ph.D. and Carmen Terzic, M.D., Ph.D., kept that theme going by presenting the latest on Regenerative Approaches in Rehabilitation Medicine.
