"Off the Court" ACL Injury Prevention

By dehansen @dhansen

Listeners to the Minnesota Timberwolves Radio Network are learning about more than the latest opponent or score this season.

Mayo Clinic Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is highlighting its partnership with the Timberwolves and the recent opening of the Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center at Mayo Clinic Square in downtown Minneapolis with a series of radio segments that air during the team’s game day coverage.

The segment above features Nancy Cummings, M.D. Orthopedic Surgery for Mayo Clinic Square.

She is also Team Physician for both the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx professional basketball teams.

Dr. Cummings discusses the center’s ACL injury prevention program, who is most at risk for this type of injury and how to prevent it.

The Mayo Sports Medicine Center locations in Rochester and Minneapolis can enhance individual performance.

The Mayo Clinic Square Sports Medicine practice (located across from the Target Center in an area previously know as Block E) is receiving good feedback from athletes.

The Timberwolves and Lynx are currently constructing their practice courts and space at the center.

The work is expected to be completed by the summer of 2015.
